Bylaw 2007-268, A bylaw of the City of Ottawa respecting public transit (Transit Bylaw)
Smoking prohibited on transit property, including stations, platforms and the transitway. Specifically, fines are issued for smoking in a “transit vehicle, passenger shelter, transit station, park and ride lot, or [on] transit property.” A news release was issued by the City of Ottawa on March 13, 2015 to inform residents that use of e-cigarettes and “vaping” is prohibited on all City properties and indoor workplaces, including on OC Transpo buses and properties, in City parks and outdoor municipal properties and on any other City properties.

This bylaw is leading edge because it prohibits smoking and vaping on all transit property. However, the prohibition of vaping is outlined in a news release and has not yet been entrenched in the bylaw. This should be rectified to strengthen the bylaw.
