Bylaw 2009-50, A By-law Respecting Smoking in Certain Public Places under the Jurisdiction of The County of Peterborough

Use of tobacco products is prohibited within the boundaries of any park owned and/or leased and under the jurisdiction of the County. Three specific parks are named in the bylaw: Victoria Park, Warsaw Park and Lang Pioneer Village and associated Park.

Definitions

“Tobacco Product” shall mean tobacco in any processed or unprocessed form that may be smoked, inhaled or chewed, including snuff, but does not apply to products intended for use in nicotine replacement therapy.

This is leading edge because it includes all tobacco products, not just those that are smoked. Naming specific properties in a bylaw is not recommended.

Enforcement

Although laudable that all tobacco products are included, it does present a challenge to bylaw enforcement.
