Bylaw No. 904, 2015 – A bylaw for the purpose of regulating smoking in the Town of Princeton

The Princeton bylaw prohibits smoking, including other weeds and substances, within 10 m of municipal buildings, on municipal property, in parks and on trails, and at outdoor special events, including on temporarily closed streets.

Definitions

“Outdoor special event” means a pre-planned community event including but not limited to a temporary street closure, parade, fair and recreational and/or fundraising events;

“Public place” means an area of land, including a highway or park, or improvement on the land, in respect of which the Town holds an interest so as to possess and control the land or  improvement, which land or improvement is available for public use, access or both, and includes without limitation civic buildings, areas around civic buildings, or areas developed for use on a highway. A list of Princeton municipal parks and trails in shown on Schedule A, attached to and forming part of this bylaw.

“Smoke” means the exhaling of the smoke from tobacco or other organic substance or the carrying of a burning cigarette, cigar or any device in which tobacco or any other organic substance is burning.
